SPORTS SURFACE CONSULTANT

PSD is wishing to appoint a Sports Surface Consultant to join its specialist consultancy team.

Location: Based at our north-western office: Wigan Road, Leyland, Lancashire, PR25 5XW.

The Opportunity

Due to an expanding operation, PSD, in partnership with TGMS and as part of the Labosport International Group, is looking to recruit a Sports Surface Consultant. The role will involve working with our experienced and highly specialised consultancy team on a range of exciting projects and sports including football, rugby, cricket, golf and horse racing. Our clients include national governing bodies of sport, major international sports venues, high profile sports clubs, community sports clubs, developers, local authorities and schools.

The role will include:

• Working with clients to develop solutions to fit sporting needs, budgets and aspirations.
• Site investigations and production of professional feasibility reports and design specifications.
• Construction phase management and performance-testing of sports pitches.
• Developing and maintaining a client base.
• Supporting the Directors in the development of the company.

About you

We are looking for:

• A team player with the ability and aptitude to learn from our experienced consultants.
• A degree in a relevant science and / or a minimum of five years’ experience in the sports turf industry; ideally within the consultancy sector.
• An understanding of the construction / management of natural and ideally artificial turf sports surfaces.
• Good communication skills to liaise effectively and professionally with clients.
• Good report writing skills to produce high quality output using Microsoft Office software.
• A full UK driving licence and a clear willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas.

It would also be desirable for the candidate to have:

• Knowledge of soils and their engineering and drainage properties.
• A sound agronomic understanding.
• Experience in the design and construction of artificial turf pitches.

Contract type: Full time (subject to a 3-month probationary period).
