LISPORT XL – Advanced synthetic turf wear testing system

REQUEST A QUOTE

Simulating real field wear with precision

The LISPORTâ„¢ XL is a next-generation wear simulation system designed to reproduce the long-term mechanical degradation of synthetic turf surfaces.

Developed by Labosport as the successor to the widely adopted LISPORTâ„¢ method, this equipment enables controlled, repeatable testing of turf durability under conditions that closely reflect real field usage. Used by manufacturers, laboratories, and research teams, it supports both product development and performance evaluation.

Its design is based on years of field observation and laboratory validation, ensuring strong correlation between simulated and in-situ wear patterns, and maintaining a clear link between laboratory results and actual field behaviour.

Why wear simulation matters?

Understanding how a synthetic turf system evolves over time is critical for:

  • Evaluating long-term performance and durability
  • Comparing product designs under identical conditions
  • Supporting product development and R&D decisions
  • Anticipating surface degradation linked to player interaction

The LISPORTâ„¢ XL addresses these challenges by reproducing both compressive stress from studs and abrasive wear from sports footwear, two key mechanisms observed on football pitches.

Key benefits

  • Realistic wear patterns

Capable of reproducing years of intensive use within a reduced testing timeframe

  • Accelerated testing cycles

Up to 10 times faster than traditional LISPORTâ„¢ methods for equivalent sample lengths

  • Consistent and comparable results

Multiple systems can be tested under identical conditions

  • Large sample capacity

Supports samples over 4 metres, allowing several tests within the same sequence

How the LISPORTâ„¢ XL Works

The system operates with a guided trolley moving across the turf sample in a controlled, repeatable motion.

The trolley integrates four key components: two free-rotating rollers equipped with studs to simulate player traction, and two vibrating plates fitted with rubber soles to reproduce abrasive interaction from sports footwear.

Testing parameters such as speed, amplitude, and frequency are calibrated to reflect real usage patterns, allowing the system to generate wear mechanisms consistent with those observed in real conditions.

Performance and Testing Approach

Compared to the traditional LISPORTâ„¢ method, the XL version significantly reduces testing time while maintaining comparable sample conditions. It also allows longer samples to be tested, enabling multiple evaluations under strictly identical parameters.

This approach is particularly relevant for comparative testing and product development, where repeatability is essential.

Standards and Industry Context

The LISPORTâ„¢ method has been used as a reference within the industry for over a decade. The LISPORTâ„¢ XL supports testing aligned with FIFA frameworks and contributes to ongoing developments in durability assessment.
